Solar Batteries For Commercial Buildings Sunshine Coast

Cheaper Home Batteries Program

The Federal Labor Government has announced a $2.3 billion pledge to help drive down the cost of home battery installations by 30%, aiming to support widespread battery adoption across Australia. Importantly, this initiative is a pre-election commitment and would only proceed if Labor is returned to government.

Named the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, the policy is designed to make battery storage more accessible for households, small businesses and farms — particularly those already making the most of rooftop solar.

Key Features of the Program

  • Up to 30% Off Battery Installations
Households and businesses could save around $4,000 on an average 11.5kWh battery, making it far more affordable to store excess solar energy for use during peak periods.
  • Support for Small Businesses and Farms
The program isn’t limited to homeowners. Small businesses and farms will also be eligible, helping them improve energy resilience, reduce electricity bills, and better manage daytime solar generation.
  • Target: One Million Batteries by 2030
Set to begin from 1 July 2025, the program aims to deliver one million new battery systems by the end of the decade, accelerating the shift to decentralised, clean energy.
  • Estimated Savings
Eligible participants could save up to $1,100 per year by reducing their reliance on the grid during expensive peak hours.
